"Open for submissions from today (Monday 13th July) and supported by W H Smith and new publishing partner Welbeck Publishing, the competition is open to all aspiring unpublished writers—"including those who found lockdown the perfect time to finally put pen to paper or revisit a previously written manuscript".

At the risk of sounding bitter and twisted, I feel I should mention that so far in the history of this competition, NO man has ever come close to winning. All the past winners have been women with 20 runners-up (18 of which were women).

The winner will be announced on Monday 5th October 2020. Previous winners include Caz Frear with Sweet Little Lies, Tracy Rees with Amy Snow and Claire Gradidge with The Unexpected Return of Josephine Fox.

So, You should stand a chance if you are female, Identify as female (or maybe gender-neutral/non-binary) and/or have the added advantage of possessing a highly sought after (but awfully WOKE) BAME quality.

Good luck ladies! 🙃

Do men settle down with a cuppa tea and even watch Richard and Judy. They probably don't see the competition so easily as women do.

I spent 7 weeks of furlough playing Xbox. Oh the regret! :-)
